SEMH Teaching Assistant

Magisters Education have partnered with a Primary SEMH School. They are seeking an additional member of staff to start in January.

Do you have a passion and talent for supporting children and young people with social emotional and mental health (SEMH) disorders?

Do you have experience working as a Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor with young people who are not able to attend mainstream school and have a background of behavioural challenges? Are you keen to make a difference to the lives of children and young people whilst building your experience and furthering your career in SEND/SEMH?

Even if your experience is informal/voluntary, I want to hear from you! The children you will support will have a variety of needs which can include significant complex behaviour challenges and sometimes associated SEND.

This SEMH Teaching Assistant role may be for you!!!!!

About the School:

We are looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with primary aged students, this will be a class-based role supporting the behaviour of the learners.

This role is based within an SEMH specialist setting for students who for many reasons are unable to access mainstream education. The class consists of 4 to 6 pupils with behavioural issues, so the School are looking for a very strong role model.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with young people with SEND and/or Autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties and learning difficulties or experience with SEMH, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication
  • Secondary Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor / Youth Worker experience
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships
  • A passion for working with SEND is essential
